Emmett Lien – President

Background

Mr. Lien came to UtiliTech after a 30 year career in the Technology Consulting business for organizations such as Entre Computer Center, AmeriData, and GE Capital ITS. In 2000 he founded WorldNet Technology Consultants, a technology and internet security consulting organization. WorldNet was named to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately held companies in 2003.

Responsibilities at UtiliTech include overseeing the sales and marketing functions of the organization, working with UtiliTech partners and agents to expand the client base, and assuring client satisfaction. Mr. Lien also personally manages the relationship for more than 50 client accounts.

Education

Mr. Lien completed various courses at Penn State and RACC. Additionally he completed the GE ITS management training program, and the Sales Green Belt program within GE ITS.

Professional and Civic Affiliations

Mr. Lien served on the Board of Directors for Teen Challenge Training Center in Rehersburg, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. Additionally he serves on the Stewardship committee at Glad Tidings Church in West Lawn.

Gene T. Waltz – Vice President of Advisory Services

Background

Mr. Waltz brings 29 years of project management and executive leadership to the UtiliTech team. His career began in the Information Technology field where he started as a programmer and his performance was rewarded with consistent advancement eventually earning the position of Vice President of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer for a nationwide manufacturing organization. He has experience working with manufacturers, distribution companies, retail, professional service firms, government, and non-profits.

Gene’s major responsibilities at UtiliTech cover the delivery of all audit and procurement services. His primary focus is on continuous improvements in UtiliTech’s processes, quality, internal and external communication, project cycle time and financial results for our customers.

Education

Mr. Waltz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He attended Albright College with a focus on accounting. He has also completed the following courses: Leadership Development and Innovation (Innovational Services), Situational Leadership and Targeted Selection (DDI), Customer Oriented Selling (IBM), Balanced Scorecard (Kaplan), Strategic Planning, Starting Team from Scratch, and Project Management (Kepner Trego).

Professional and Civic Affiliations

Mr. Waltz is a past President, and Vice President of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Shillington, PA. He currently serves on the Zoning Hearing Board in Cumru Township. He is also active in various community events.

Jonathan H. Black - Director of Electric Services

Background

Mr. Black began his career in the electric service industry with GPU Energy Corporation, and held various positions with GPU for 15 years. During that time, he managed a wide range of responsibilities, including; Customer Relations Manager, Industrial Segment Supervisor, Sr. Consultant Major Accounts, Market Support Engineer, Industrial/Commercial Technology Applications Engineer Sales, Engineer III Major Accounts/Technical Support, District Engineer Operations, Account Executive and Design Engineer.

He is responsible for managing electric service auditing and procurement for our clients. His responsibilities focus on helping our customers better understand electric utility rate options, facilitating refunds for billing errors, new energy savings through electric technologies and the procurement of the lowest cost energy supply from alternate generation suppliers. Mr. Black understands the best-cost theories in the electric service industry and works diligently to bring those choices to our clients.

Education

Mr. Black received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University in Energy Engineering Technology. He has also received credits for continued studies in Electric Utility System Operations, Utility Finances & Accounting, Industrial & Commercial Power Distribution, HVAC Systems, Geothermal Certification, Demand Side Management, Plastics Industry, Healthcare Technologies, Energy Management, Thermal Electric Storage Heating, Ice Storage Cooling Systems, Induction Heating; Infrared, Microwave, Radiofrequency & Resistance Technologies.
